The Broward County Office of the Medical Examiner and Trauma Services provide a list of local funeral homes that have expressed an interest in providing low-cost options to families. Lastly, families can choose body donation and the Florida Anatomical Board can guide them.
Broward County offers an Indigent Cremation and Disposition Program (ICP) to provide final disposition in accordance with the law for deceased persons who have no family, or whose family cannot afford private funeral arrangements. In order to qualify for this program, the death must have occurred within Broward County (but the decedent does not need to have been a county resident) and the family’s household must meet federal poverty guidelines.
FEMA is also offering funeral assistance. Apply HERE.
For support in grieving, the Grief Support Directory is organized by types of loss with an extensive range of resources and supports available locally, on-line, in-person and internationally. The directory includes COVID 19 Grief Support Groups.
